Dehumidifier - Drain Hose Issues
A garden water hose can be connected to a drain port on a dehumidifier so that it will automatically empty into a floor drain as water is collected. Check the Owner's Manual for instructions on how to use a hose to drain the water.
Dehumidifier - Draining Options
Not Draining with Hose Attached:
If water is not draining through the hose, please check the following:
-
Make sure you have a good connection where the garden hose attaches and that there is a rubber washer properly installed in the end of the garden hose. If the connection is loose, gently tighten the connection with pliers.
-
If the hose is pushed into a drain (like a standpipe), make sure it is not pushed in too far. If the hose is touching water, it will not drain. Pull out the hose until the hose outlet is above the water line.
-
Cut off any excess hose so that it is moving in a straight line to the drain.
-
Avoid using an old or damaged garden hose.
-
Clean the dehumidifier drain and hose:
-
-
If there is water in the bucket, empty the bucket.
-
Unplug the unit.
-
Clean the dehumidifier drain with a baby bottle brush or pipe cleaner (like used for kids crafts).
-
Clean the drain hose with the same.
-
Make sure the drain hose is routed downward. If the drain line is mounted at a steep angle downward less material will accumulate in the hose and drain.
-
Draining Through Hose, Bucket Full Light On:
Check the garden hose where it attaches to the unit. A loose or bad connection will cause leaking into the bucket and through the hose at the same time.
