Refrigerator - Ice Dispensing Intermittently

When dispensing crushed or cubed ice, it is normal to have short periods where no ice comes out. Brief, intermittent periods of no ice coming from the dispenser when getting ice does occur normally. However, if no ice comes out at all, there may be a problem with the ice dispenser.

If no ice comes out at all, you can check the following:

  • Remove the ice bucket and check for clumps of ice stuck together. The clumps can usually be pulled from the bucket and discarded. Infrequent use of the icemaker can cause these ice clumps to form.

  • If the bucket is blocked or iced up near where the ice comes out, you can empty the ice from the bucket and run hot water through it until all the ice is melted.
