Slide-In & Drop-In Range - Side Panels

The appearance of the side panels on a Slide-In or Drop-In range is finished or unfinished. This article defines the appearance of the sides of these ranges.

Understanding the Design and Appearance of the Sides of a Slide-In and Drop-In Range

Slide-In Ranges

Fall 2017 and Newer Slide-In Ranges: These ranges are designed to fit into a free-standing range cut-out opening. These slide-in ranges have finished sides, so they do not need a side body panel kit. For more information on these models, visit our Slide-In Range - No Overhang or Overlap article.

  • The sides on White, Black, and Bisque models are color-matched.

  • Slate, Black Slate, Stainless (including Fingerprint Resistant Stainless) and Black Stainless have dark gray sides.

Prior to the Fall of 2017: The sides of slide-in and drop-in ranges manufactured prior to the Fall of 2017 were unfinished. Exposed areas were galvanized steel.

  • If the slide-in range is installed at the end of a cabinet, a body side kit in a matching color should be used to finish the appearance. The side panel has a smooth, baked-on porcelain enamel finish. It is not a textured side panel and is smooth to the touch.

Drop-In Ranges

  • The sides of drop-in ranges, regardless of the manufacture date, are unfinished. Exposed areas are galvanized steel.

  • Drop-in ranges must be built into cabinets and cannot have an exposed side. There are no side panel kits for this type of range.
