Top Load Washer - Start-Up and Automatic Draining Sequences

Top Load washers manufactured after August of 2017 with both electronic controls and a selector knob have specific start-up and automatic draining features. Examples of these washer models are models that start with GTW750, GTW685 or GTW680.

Understanding the Start-Up and Automatic Draining Sequences on a Top Load Washer

Start-Up / Fill

• Any time the washer is being started or restarts after the washer lid has been opened and closed, the washerwill turn on the cold water valve for two short periods followed by a 10 second pause before continuing.
• If the lid is opened during this period, the washer will pause. You will have to push the Start button again to restart the cycle.

Automatic Draining

The washer will automatically drain in the following circumstances.

• Any time the lid is left open for more than 15 minutes and water is present in the wash basket (tub).
• If left in a paused state with the lid closed for more than 24 hours and water is present in the wash basket (tub).
