Gas Range - Center Oval or Center Round Burner Not Lighting

Profile gas ranges with a Dual Purpose Center Burner feature a combination round and oval center burner. This center burner has a fully functional round burner with additional sections at the front and back of the burner to make an oval burner for large pans or griddles.

 

To light the round burner, push in on the knob and turn clockwise toward "Round" so that only the round center burner is lit. To light the additional front and rear sections, you then push in on the knob again and turn counter-clockwise to Griddle.

Diagnosing a Center Oval or Center Round Burner Not Lighting on a Gas Range

The Round Burner Does Not Light

  • The knob may have been turned to Griddle first. This will cause the round burner not to light.
  • First, turn the knob to OFF. Then, push in and turn the knob clockwise to lite the round burner.

The Outside "Oval" Sections Do Not Light

  • The Round burner must be lit first. Push in and turn the knob clockwise to lite the round burner, and then push in again and turn the knob counter-clockwise to light the end sections.
  • If you turned on the Round burner and then turned the knob to Griddle without pushing in on it again, the end sections will not light.
