Portable Air Conditioner - Hot Exhaust Vent Hose

Portable air conditioners exhaust the hot air produced by the cooling (heat exchange) process through the exhaust hose. This is why it is necessary to use the exhaust hose and why it must exhaust to the outside. It is normal for the exhaust vent hose to be warm, or even hot, during operation.

Understanding Why the Exhaust Hose on a Portable Air Conditioner Is Hot

If the hose seems warmer now than it has in the past, we suggest considering the following tips.

1. Check the air intake louvers to make sure they are not being obstructed.
   • We recommend leaving 1 feet of clearance all the way around the appliance.
2. Check that there is nothing blocking the hose or the discharge area of the window kit.
