Dishwasher - Flood Float

Dishwasher models starting with the letters GDF/GDT/PDT/CDT/DDT/ADT and ZDT have a flood float in the sump area. The flood float signals to the dishwasher when to stop filling. If your dishwasher is not filling properly, you can easily check the flood float.

How to Check the Flood Float

  1. First, remove the Ultra Fine and Fine filters. Then, lift the flood float straight up and out of the sump area. For more information about removing and cleaning the filters, check out our Dishwasher - How to Clean Fine and Ultra Fine Filters article.
  2. Make sure the float is straight (not bent or damaged) and there is no debris in the sump area.
  3. Replace the flood float the same way you removed it. If damaged, a new flood float can be purchased from our GE Appliances Parts & Accessories website.
