Calrod and Quartz Toaster Ovens - Getting Started

Before you start to use the Toaster Oven, you want to make sure you have it in a good location and have se t it up properly.

 

Safety Warnings

  • To protect against electrical shock, do not immerse cords, plugs, or the appliance in water or other liquid.

  • The exterior surfaces of the appliance can be hot during and after oven operation. Unplug the power cord and allow the oven to cool completely before handling the appliance.

  • Do not use metal utensils or scouring pads to clean the oven cavity or heating elements as this can create risk of electrical shock and may also damage parts of the oven.

 

Unpacking the Toaster Oven and Preparing for First Use

  1. Remove and safely discard all packing materials before operating the oven.

  2. It is recommended to wipe the interior of the oven cavity with a damp sponge before first use.

  3. It is also recommended to thoroughly clean all accessories before first use. Accessories may be cleaned with warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry completely.

  4. Place the oven on a level, stable surface where the oven has at least 4" of clearance on all sides of the unit and at least 4" of clear space above.

    • Do not place or store any items on top of the oven, with the exception of the provided accessories.

  5. Unravel the power cord and plug it into a grounded 120V power outlet. Do not use this appliance with an extension cord.

    • Upon plugging it into the power outlet, the LCD screen will illuminate and all icons will briefly display.

      • By default, the LCD screen will display the TOAST cooking mode.

  6. It is recommended to operate the oven empty in ROAST mode for 20 minutes before first use. This will ensure any protective films on the heating element are removed.

    1. Rotate the "Mode" knob until the ROAST cooking mode is illuminated.

      • By default, the cook time will be set to 20 minutes.

    2. Press the "Start" button to begin oven operation. The oven will begin preheating.

    3. Press the "Start" button again to skip preheat mode and begin the ROAST cooking cycle immediately.

      • The 20-minute timer will begin to count down.

  7. During this initial cooking cycle, the oven may emit visible vapors. These vapors are normal, safe, and not detrimental to the oven. Ensure that the room is well ventilated.

  8. At the end of the cooking cycle, the oven alarm will sound and the oven will automatically shut off the heating elements.

  9. The oven is now ready for cooking.
