Microwave - Using the Cook Time Feature
Cook Time (or Time Cook) allows you to set a specific time you want your microwave to run. You can set any time up to 99 minutes and 99 seconds. This feature is helpful when you need to set the microwave to cook for 1 minute 45 seconds, for example. For a quick start option, use Express Cook.
Your microwave Owner's Manual will have instructions for using Cook Time with your specific model. Below is the most common way of setting the Cook Time.
Setting Cook Time
- Press Cook Time
- Enter the cooking time (up to 99 minutes and 99 seconds)
- Press Start
Additional Operation Information When Using Cook Time
When you use Cook time, the power level is automatically set to 10 (high) and can be changed before or after you press Start. You can visit Microwave - How to Change the Power Level for help, or check your model's Owner's Manual.
If you need to to check your food while the microwave is running, you can pause the microwave and have it resume when you're finished.
- For over-the-range microwaves and countertop microwaves manufactured before April 2024, you can simply open the door to pause the microwave. When ready, close the door and press Start to resume cooking.
- For countertop microwaves manufactured in or after April 2024, an enhanced child safety feature added by all manufacturers keeps you from opening the door to pause the microwave unless the feature is disabled. Opening the microwave door requires a two-step process for enhanced child safety. Find out how to pause the microwave or turn off this feature, visit Countertop Microwave - Child Resistant Oven Door Feature.
