Dishwasher - Leaks From Door
It is very frustrating to find that water is leaking from the door of your Dishwasher. If your Dishwasher is leaking from under or around the door, you can check the following things in an attempt to fix this without the need for repair service.
New Installation
- If you have a door leak on a new Dishwasher, the Dishwasher may have to go through several complete wash cycles to properly seat the new door gasket. Check to be sure the edge of the control panel is not hitting the adjacent cabinet. The door may give enough to latch but not enough to form a tight seal. Reposition the Dishwasher so it does not make contact with the cabinet. You may want to check out our Dishwasher - Door Does Not Close Properly article.
Check the Gasket
- Inspect the door gasket. For more information, see our Dishwasher - Checking and Replacing Door Gasket article.
- For models with a light gray door gasket mounted around the edge of the door, check the front inside lower corners of the Dishwasher tub for black corner pieces (baffles), one on each side. Are they missing or damaged? If so, you can purchase a GE Appliance part or accessory online.
- Models with a black door gasket mounted on the tub do not have corner baffles/gaskets.

Door and Door Vent
- On models with external vents, it is normal for warm, moist air to come out through the vent during drying as well as when water is being pumped out. This is necessary for drying.
- If the vent cap on the inside of the door at the top corner is loose, water can leak from the door. Hand tighten the vent cap to prevent leaking.
- If the Dishwasher door is not aligned, the door cannot seal properly. For more information about aligning the door, see our Dishwasher - Door is Not Aligned article.
