GE Profile™ UltraFast Combo Washer/Dryer - Installation
Your GE Profile™ UltraFast Combo Washer/Dryer combines a washer and a dryer into one machine. It is designed to be installed almost anywhere, giving you the freedom to optimize your space with one machine, instead of two. The Ventless Heat Pump Technology eliminates the need for a dryer vent, while its energy efficiency allows you to plug into any standard 120-volt dedicated outlet. With this All-In-One design, laundry machine installation has never been easier!
Installation Tips
Please see your Combo's Installation Instructions and Accessories Guide for complete details, along with the highlighted tips below.
Location
- Combo is intended for residential use only.
- We do not require a "minimum room size". It is a UL requirement to state the minimum clearance around all surfaces of the UltraFast Combo when tested with a 60 square inch of open or louvered ventilation. Please consult local code to determine additional space and ventilation requirements.
- There is no issue with installation of the Combo in high humidity environments (such as Florida or a bathroom). The clothes container and drying system are well sealed from the environment, so any ambient humidity has little effect on the Combo.
- The Ultrafast Combo can be installed in the upper floors of a home. It's important to make sure that the upper floor can support the Combo. To make sure the Combo does not vibrate or move, you may have to reinforce the floor. If the floor is in poor condition, use a 3/4" impregnated plywood sheet and solidly attach it to the existing floor covering. It's also critical that it is installed properly.
- There is a protective film on the LCD display that should be removed when installed.
- As long as the shipping bolts are installed, the Combo can be laid on its back while its in the carton as well as when it's unboxed, allowing for installation of the riser.
Parts
- The UltraFast Combo does not ship with inlet hoses, so here are some suggestions for hoses to purchase:
- For a standard installation, you will need a set of two rubber or stainless steel hoses. A suggested kit is WX14X10011, which includes two 6-foot stainless steel washer hoses with 90° elbows.
- Note: Part # WX14X10011 does not include hose filter screens.
- For installations in which you need to share the hot and cold water faucets, you can order 2 sets of the WX14X10014, each including a one-foot stainless steel hose, a Y-adapter, and two rubber washers for each of the lines.
- The Unicouple Hose Assembly (part number WH41X36697) is an optional accessory that allows the Combo to be installed next to a utility sink so that a standpipe is not needed for draining or hot/cold water inlets. The Combo is not portable and is not designed to be put on wheels, casters, or a mobile platform.
- For a standard installation, you will need a set of two rubber or stainless steel hoses. A suggested kit is WX14X10011, which includes two 6-foot stainless steel washer hoses with 90° elbows.
- When leveling the Combo, a thinner than normal wrench may be needed to adjust the leg lock nut. We offer a Leveling Leg Wrench (WH01X37477) to help tighten this lock nut. The washer above the lock nut is actually part of the locknut (one piece). The lock nut washer needs to be firmly snugged to the bottom/base of the Combo to prevent the leg from loosening.
