Smart Washer and Dryer - Set-Up Optional WiFi with Connect Module

When using the WiFi option, you will need to set-up the Washer and Dryer separately. Washers and Dryers with Optional WiFi will each require its own Connect Module powered by SmartHQ™.
 
Models with WiFi on the control panel have built-in WiFi and do not require the Connect Module. For WiFi set-up of these models, please see our Smart Washers and Dryers - Set-Up Built-In WiFi article.

To Set-Up Optional WiFi on Your Washer and Dryer

Step 1

Download the SmartHQ App

The SmartHQ app can be used on Apple or Android smart phones, and is available to download for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play . Once downloaded, open the SmartHQ app on your smart phone and Sign In or create a WiFi account.
 
  • If you already have a WiFi account, select "Sign In." This takes you to the Welcome screen.
  • If you do not have a WiFi account, select "Create Account." After you fill out the required information, you will receive an email to verify the account. Once the account has been verified, you will be able to use the email and password you created to sign into the SmartHQ app.

Step 2

Confirm Your Appliance Is Compatible with the Connect Module.

  1. Open the SmartHQ app and sign in. From the Welcome screen, press OK.
  2. On the "Have Connect Plus?" screen, press the arrow to enter your appliance model number.
  3. The SmartHQ app will confirm if the appliance supports the Connect Module. If it does, you will have a link to order the module online or purchase the Connect Module PBX23W00Y0. Order 2 modules if connecting both the Washer and Dryer.

Step 3

Connect Your Washer and Dryer. Each appliance should be set-up separately.
 
  1. Open the SmartHQ app and sign in. From the Welcome screen, press OK.
  2. Find the network name and password on the back of the module.
  3. Open the SmartHQ app and go back to the "Have Connect Plus?" screen and press Next. Enter the password or take a picture of the password on the back of the module.
  4. Once the password is confirmed, plug the Connect Module into the back of the appliance. The module is magnetic and will stick to the back of the control panel.
    • If you have been using the Clean Speak feature using the communication cable between the Washer and Dryer, remove the cable and plug in each module. The SmartHQ app will perform the same functions, so the cable is no longer needed.
  5. Make sure the WiFi LED on the Connect Module is flashing.
  6. Go to your phone's WiFi settings and choose the network name found on the Connect label. This will start communication between the SmartHQ app and the appliance.
  7. If successful, the "Choose home network" screen will appear. Find your home WiFi network and enter your password to connect the device back to your home network.
    • If you do not see your home network on the list of WiFi networks, chose the "Other" option and enter your network name yourself.
  8. The Connecting process will start and the WiFi LED will remain solid and no longer flash.
  9. The appliance is Connected once the LED is solid and the SmartHQ app says "Connected!"
